Yahoo Press Event Could Be About Tumblr Acquisition

Yahoo’s “Something Special To Share” Can Be About Tumblr

I think speculations about Yahoo thinking on acquiring Tumblr which have been centre of attention of late, are not wrong. Though there are no official declarations or statements made, Yahoo does signifies something with its press conference message in the invite “Join us as we share something special”.

Yahoo Press Event Could Be About Tumblr Acquisition

The press event is supposed to be held today, i.e. Monday, May 20th, 2013 in New York where Marissa Mayer is expected to speak, as reported by CNBC.

Now, I’m wondering, can it be a sheer coincidence that Tumblr is also headquarted in New York?

Also, why would Wall Street Journal report on its site about Yahoo board approving $1.1 billion for Tumblr acquisition?

So whether Tumblr’s existing users like it or not, but probably that’s what coming there way. Read More…

Could iPhone Have Been Different?

Like me, most others might not have known this fact that Paul Otellini, the retired CEO of Intel Corporation turned down the proposal from Apple Inc. to build the silicon, which would have powered Apple’s first iPhone.

Otellini regrets his decision and the lack of foresight in case of Apple as things could have been different for Intel who could have reaped all the benefits that Samsung has had all these years right from the beginning when they built ARM to power the first iPhone.

Otellini also said that he has learned a lesson of not following the gut and relying only on the data from the case of Apple Inc.

But as an iPhone user I’m wondering, could iPhone have been different? I mean it is already in a way different, standing class apart from other phones but “Could it have been much or less different if 1st iPhone Could Have Used Intel Chips?”

There are also some pretty interesting facts that you may want to know about Apple, Check Out Here…

Time’s Changing with SmartWatch, Are You?

After SmartPhone it is actually the time for SmartWatch App Development. And with this, I’ve gotten the answer of my question – if 2013, A Year to Watch or Ear to Watch?

Pebble, a customizable, Bluetooth-enabled SmartWatch that connects to iPhone and Android smartphones already became the most highly funded KickStarter project to date with $10,266,844 pledged by 68,928 people.

And now the company has announced the release of an updated Software Development Kit (SDK) called PebbleKit and APIs that will allow iOS and Android developers to create watch apps and watchfaces. This means the wearable computing device gives us the ability to do more meaningful things with the customized watch.

There are quite a few amazing things that we can do with it. Check Here…

Apple App Store’s 50 Billion App Downloads – What’s in it for You?

Needless to say that Apple’s App Market is growing by leaps and bounds. 50 Billion App Downloads in just 5 years is quite a remarkable stat. I did a little math, to evaluate the measure of the achievement and was astonished to find how big is the Apple App Market.

50 Billion App Downloads in 5 Years (approx. 1825 Days), it equals to an average of more than 27 Million App Downloads a day. Wow, that’s quite a figure! In fact a delighting one, not only for Apple but also for others (like App Developers, Sellers, Publishers, etc.) who are associated with the Promising, Popular And Profitable Market.

And getting back on Apple, I must say the company is celebrating the milestone in the most fashionable way. Apart from the “One Real Big Thanks” Apple is going to distribute the prizes of the Total US Retail Value of $35,000.00

One (1) First Prize Winner will receive one (1) Gift Card for credit in an amount equal to USD $10,000, and fifty (50) Additional Prize Winners will each receive one (1) Gift Card for credit in an amount equal to USD $500, redeemable in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, as available in the country in which the applicable winner is located.

Anyways my point is “Apple is offering 2 things here”

  1. PROMISE, of course for the growth of the businesses associated with the iOS App Market; and
  2. PRIZE, for the people (app users) who are behind the growth.

What do you think about it?

Is Apple’s Motive Automotive with iOS 7?

Lately I’ve got a lot to read about the various speculations related to iOS 7. Among all, one guess is about Apple shifting gear from Mobile to Motor meaning with iOS 7, Apple plans to move into the in-car integration space later this year. Now I believe there’s a high chance that Apple’s Siri can be your new Chauffeur.

This is because right now Siri is available in Beta only and the company’s intention to take it to the next level is quite apparent with Apple already working with car manufacturers to integrate Siri into select voice control systems.

There’s also a speculation that an iPhone could be plugged into a car and an optimized, redesigned version of Apple Maps will appear on the car’s built-in display instead of a proprietary GPS system found in many cars. Even this could be true because Apple itself hints on its website that Siri can be used to control the Maps functions and other iOS features.

I’m also very inquisitive about the WWDC which is to be held very soon because you never know if Apple’s planning to launch this new in-car integration at this, or other upcoming events.

But that’s not all, there is a lot that is being speculated. Find More…

Have you got your Apple ID Verified?

Apple is rolling out its new two-step verification feature for Apple IDs to users in additional countries other than U.S., UK, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand, who were initially availed with optional security feature when it was first launched in late March 2013 after a major security hole was discovered in Apple’s account management.

Users from Canada, Argentina, Netherlands, Russia, Austria, Poland, Brazil, Mexico and other countries can check to exercise their option to verify one of their iOS devices as a “trusted device” in order to receive a verification code to access their Apple ID.

How to do it?

Two Step Verification for Apple ID

  1. You will first have to check on the availability of the option which automatically appears in the Password and Security section of Manage My Apple ID when You sign in to My Apple ID.
  2. If you are a user from U.S., UK, Australia, Ireland or New Zealand, you can choose an SMS-capable phone number to receive text messages with the temporary verification codes Apple uses to verify your identity. While if you are a user from other country then you will have to verify one of your iOS devices as a “trusted device” in order to receive a verification code through the “Find My iPhone app” and access your Apple ID.

Lets be Safe than Sorry and get our Apple IDs verified.

Apple also offers the required support related to FAQs about two-step verification for Apple ID.

Space-O Technologies’ Website Has Got a New Look

I have been counting on the day and the day has finally arrived bringing the new hopes and happinesses for lots of people including me, my business partners, employees and of course our clients.

We, at Space-O, wanted to revive the look and feel of our old site; and refresh the user experience for our site visitors.

Our primary goal was to better the Usability as well as the Design for our audience. And I must say, our site development team is quite on-target in rendering an aesthetic, intuitive and user-friendly interface.

www.spaceotechnologies.com

We have not only changed the look and feel of the website, but also made a number of enhancements as below:

  1. Navigation: We aimed to provide easy and instinctive navigation for which we chiefly followed the “Three-Click Rule” of Jeffrey Zeldman. We did not want our website users to take too much hassle to find the desired information and therefore we availed such a navigation that takes the user to the desired destination on the site in no more than 3 mouse clicks.
  2. Appearance: The look and feel of the site is the best of what our site visitors have experienced yet.
  3. Responsive Design: For an iPhone Application Development company like ours, it is no brainer NOT to allow our website’s smooth viewing on iPhone and other mobile devices. The design is created based on Twitter’s boostrap framework, which supports responsive viewing of the site. It is just a beginning. We intend to provide even better mobile user experience in the time to come.
  4. Portfolio: We have showcased our work in a more effective way so that our clients can literary take a peep into our previous work. We have added detailed description of the work we did on respective projects, mentioned the technologies that we’ve used, unlike merely displaying the title and the project overview that many other organizations do. Our goal was to provide the detailed information about our work and how it adds value in our clients’ lives.
  5. Client Reviews and Videos: Any organization would love to get video feedback from their clients especially when they do a pretty good job. We also do. We consider it a kind of reward from our clients. During the course of past few years, our clients have shared their experiences through video recordings of what they feel about Space-O. Our newly revamped website now features Video Feedback from our clients.

Everything we do at Space-O is to make a difference in our clients’ lives. Site revamp project was not an exception. Don’t get me wrong. Our website still has a long way to go as I believe the current version is just 20% of what I envision to achieve in the months to come.

Have a look at Space-O’s website and stay tuned to see it getting nourished the same way we would like to nourish our clients’ projects.

Natural hand function of the prosthetic limb

It’s amazing to know that prosthetic innovation seems to be moving faster than I thought. Now, it is possible to use the iPhone with a prosthetic hand. I heard about the “biosim” app through which someone having prosthetic limbs can control the phone with the help of ios app.

After watching the video, I found that there’s a conductive covering over one of the hands that lets the person use the iPhone touch screen with the prosthetics. What an amazing use of tech!

I guess the prosthetic hand would be able to interact with iPhone’s display and with the stylus too. The fake hand is expected to be all-purpose hand. The users can choose one of the 24 grip patterns and also customize the grips.

I believe nothing can beat the human hand. I’d love to know more about the technology behind it. Off I go to Google it!
