My Passion For Photography Aspires Me to Click Some Beautiful Pictures

Do you have a passion for photography that keeps driving you to click some beautiful pictures regardless the obstacles that you get in your way? From years, I have an interest in photography and love to click some of the amazing pictures whenever I get some time.

When it comes to the concepts of passion, drive, and determination, these are intensely attractive to me and keep boosting me to click pictures. However, I also believe that everyone is exposed to photography and visual imagery in some other form.

It doesn’t matter whether you are looking pictures of your friends on social media websites, advertising campaigns at departmental stores or any billboards, photography is considered as one of the best means of communicating or telling a story to the viewer.  Have a look at the some of the recent photographs that I have clicked in the Canada:

Prisma – A First Photo Editing App That Uses Neural Networks & Artificial Intelligence

Recently, I came to know about the most interesting and impressive image editing application ‘Prisma’ that has hit the Apple App Store.

The application can make the images look like paintings from some of the most renown artists of all the time, including Picasso, Van Gogh, Levitan and more.

Today, while going home, I tried my hands on this application and checked some of the excellent filters and got amazing results that you can see in the below image.

prisma_blog_image

Now, the photo applications have completely changed the way photography is done through mobile phones, especially adding filters. I must say that this application stands out from the rest of editing applications.

As it makes use of a server-side combination of neural networks and artificial intelligence to apply 33 different filters that can be changed in intensity using a sliding scale. Once I applied the filters, I can instantly share them on Instagram, Facebook and other social networking sites using the options that I found in the iOS share sheet.

To enjoy different effects of this application, you just need to choose the photo and select an art filter to be applied. Then, you need to wait for the while as Prisma will work on its algorithmic magic, returning the artificial image within some seconds, giving an option of sharing on social networking.

Developed by Prisma Labs, the application will be available on Android platform as well by the end of this month. So, got an iOS device? Just go ahead and download Prisma application. Maybe you can get some of the filters and share your creations on the social network.

To get more information about this application and how to do editing with it, just go through this blog.

My Dream Project ‘Smart Mobile Apps Solution’ for 100 Smart Cities Projects – SmartCity311

Smartcity, as a concept, has motivated me, personally, to do something better each time and make cities digitally literate and smarter.

To see it in the way of a fact (Wikipedia), a Smartcity is,

“A smart city uses digital technologies or information and communication technologies (ICT) to enhance quality and performance of urban services, to reduce costs and resource consumption, and to engage more effectively and actively with its citizens.”

As I have been working towards the concept of Smart city and Smartcity apps, I came across hordes of groups, communities, companies and others Government bodies, which were working towards the same aim and are making efforts to encourage others, like us, through different means.

From the Indian Government to the startup seed funding incubators, everyone is focusing on #AcceleratingIndia and making every city #Smartcity

Talking about the Government, since the new government has come in, their focus has constantly been on Smart India and its Smart Cities. Under this governance, the ‘Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), a Smart Cities Mission’ has been launched. Under this system, the ministry has as much role to play, as the citizens like you and I do.

  1. In this November 2015, The 2nd Sustainable Smart Cities India 2015 Mangaluru Edition opened at the Dr. TMA Pai International Convention Centre. The two-day international conference is organized by Mangalore City Corporation in association with Nispana Innovative Platforms. (Read More)
  2. Civic Tech Is The Next Big Thing
Citizens are increasingly demanding transparency from their elected officials and too often, governments have no way to provide a clear window into how or why taxpayer money is being spent. Civic tech is now a hot space for tech investments. (Read More)
  3. On the other hand, the big head of Silicon Valley, Microsoft itself, has taken an initiative on the same front.

In the first week of November, I had read that “Microsoft to provide $120,000 Azure credits to startups working on smart cities” which was announced by CEO Satya Nadella at the American technology company’s ‘Future Unleashed’ event in Mumbai.

Thanks to Rahul Savdekar, Director – Industry Solutions (Government) at Microsoft helped me to get the enough details for the event.

‘We take part and Our Mobile App Solution won the Global Entrepreneurship Week’s Sandbox Challenge, Hubballi’

While Microsoft itself is involved in this ‘Accelerate India Mission’ it has also recommended four seed funding firms, namely, Telangana Hub, GenNext, Deshpande Foundation, Ashoka University.

Amongst the four firms recommended by Microsoft, I attempted my luck and the efficiency of my product by applying in. That firm was Deshpande Foundation.

As its procedure goes, I attempted at presenting our Smartcity311 app, showing the way it works and the problem it solves, trying out and Yes! We made it to #1 position.

So happy that, our solution #SmartCity311 won the Global Entrepreneurship week’s sandbox challenge with the seed funding of 100,000 INR at Deshpande Foundation, Hubballi.

When the jury truly knew about the app, its functionality and the way in which it involves public participation in tracking the issues of potholes, garbage cleaning and others, they took not a second longer in giving their decision.

I would like to Thank You Sandbox Startups, a Deshpande foundation and HDMC (Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation) and now looking forward to provide this solution for Hubballi.

While this was my experience per se, this what the Facebook page of Deshpande Foundation says about Smartcities and their importance in India’s growth.

The key features of a Smart City is in the intersect between competitiveness, Capital and Sustainability. The smart…

Recently, To Solve Traffic issues in Tourist State like Goa, IT Professional comes up with advice for smart cities

“Allow city entry for personal vehicles with odd registration number on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and even numbered vehicles on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. If vehicle owners want exception to this rule, provide a tag to be fixed on windshields at a price of 1,000 per year,” to its Municipal Corporation. (Read More)

Few of other Smart City Mobile Solutions by us, towards making 100 Smart Cities:

This has proved to be a great start towards the journey we have planned to undertake.

iPromise:
iPromise
iPromise is our Flagship product, which is an acronym for “Intelligent Program for Maintaining Integrated Street Light & Energy System.” This system was created to keep a check on the much important system of Street Light Maintenance. It is a complete web and mobile based solution that creates a system for the regular checking and maintenance of street lights. iPromise is currently being implemented at Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).

VBD Tracker:
VBD

VBD Tracker, build using Microsoft technologies, was created to enable the officers of the Health Department in regulating and ensuring compliance. This app also assists them in performing regular inspections and enforcing other everyday activities for the prevention and control of vector & water borne diseases like Chikungunya, Dengue, and Malaria. This app makes our cities safe and smart.

These apps are merely a beginning to the dream that I have sown in the roots of EverythingCivic. And we have many other ideas that will, as time passes, become solutions to the core problems that are stopping many cities from becoming Smartcities.

Announcing The Release of My First Book 'Enterprise Mobility Strategies & Solutions'

The Thrill of My First Foot Steps in Launching My Book – Enterprise Mobility Strategies & Solutions

Announcing The Release of My First Book 'Enterprise Mobility Strategies & Solutions'

“In many ways it is the struggle to get your books seen, heard about, talked about – in short, made visible in an increasingly crowded and noisy marketplace – that is where the real battle in publishing is taking place today.” – Merchants of Culture, John B Thompson

As aptly said above, I have always been a voracious reader but never realized that I could pen down one by myself and its like a dream come true with my first book having been released. It’s a real roller-coaster ride & joy having written a book on “Enterprise Mobility Strategy & Solutions”, a subject which is I is widely used by CEO’s, CTO’s and decision-makers.

It’s always easy to finish reading a book, but when it comes to black on white it’s a like a mountainous task, but having a will to be a writer and an edge in getting in-sight about enterprise mobility strategies from decision makers, CEO’s, CTO’s and best industry talents, so I set my foot to hit the market with unique flavor on enterprise mobility.

I have gone through lot of books on enterprise mobility but never been satisfied as I always felt its been in-complete; so the basic idea behind to shape this book was to help the market leaders in getting more insight about what enterprise mobility does? and how it’s going to be beneficial to their business. I have tried to cover almost all areas by giving practical case-studies which the user will come across that are relevant to their business needs. It also warns them and provides them with a resolution about the obstacles and setback that they may face.

The book spreads across 4 major sections which further unfolds into thirteen chapters and the 4 sections are:

  1. The Mobility Revolution
  2. Enterprise Mobility in the Workplace
  3. The Scope of Enterprise Mobility
  4. Other Aspects of Enterprise Mobility

The book does not limit itself to enterprise mobility but the reader can also explore more on Mobile Device Management (MDM), BYOD, and Mobile Security.

This is a fascinating book which I am sure the business owners would not wait for a second to grab this book and get more from this enterprise mobility.

Rakesh Patel receiving Memento for Mentorship at Startup2020

Pledged US $10,000 for “Park: On the Go” and “Radius” at Startup 20-20

Recently NASSCOM along with GESIA and Dewang Mehta Foundation Trust organized a 3-day event “Startup 20-20” in partnership with M. S. University in Baroda. The program was geared for entrepreneurs to get a great experience of launching startups simulating NASSCOM’s 10,000 Start-ups initiative goal – fostering collaboration between the larger industry players and young software product firms.

I was also invited to mentor the teams and motivate the participants, who seemed no short of capabilities or creativity either. The addition we mentors can make was to offer our experience that could help participants resolve their problems related with the ideas.

Rakesh Patel receiving Memento for Mentorship at Startup 2020 Mentors at Startup20-20

I mentored and reviewed mock presentations of over 8 teams and suggested necessary improvements. Out of all the concepts presented, 2 were very interesting offering solutions for common problems.

The 1st one was “Park: On the Go”

Rakesh Patel in Conversation with Team Engipreneurs

  • Concept: This is one of the most practical and potential ideas one can come up with. The mobile app solution was conceptualized to address the parking problems by enabling motorists to find out parking spaces through real time information of the spare parking capacity at the venues.On-the-Go will employ crowd-sourcing model (like Wikipedia) to gather the data and build a database of parking and no parking zones.Team Engipreneurs won 1st Prize for Park On The Go

Not only did everyone admire the idea but it won the first prize too.

  • Team: The team behind the concept called itself “Engipreneurs” and had
  • 7 Members: Juie Talavia, Bhargav Mehta, Hardik Bagdi, Himanshu Chetwani, Smit Shah, Hardik Patel and Rishabh Shah
  • Funds Pledged by Me: I promised and pledged to fund US $5,000 for this project.

So what’s next with “Park: On the Go”?

Another Project, “Radius” also seemed promising though it did not win any prize.

  • Concept: What magnetized me towards the idea was its uniqueness and usefulness. The project enables recruiters to short list candidates in no time on the basis of credibility scores of the candidates which will be the aggregate of ratings based on parameters like skills, expertise, attitude, leadership qualities amongst others. Not only this will curtail the hassles of employers but it will also empower employees who can use their credibility scores as a “Badge” to be put on their CVs or profiles.
  • Team Members: The team working on Radius had 5 members including Naeem G Shaikh, Ronak Gohil, Dhrumil Pathak, Amit Anand and Ankit Agrawal.
  • Funds Pledged by Me: I pledged a funding of US $5,000 for this project too.

Park: On the Go – Discovery Phase

The viability of the idea can be deemed as tested since app concept received the tremendous response at Startup 20-20 and won the 1st prize. Needless to say, that it did not require feasibility study further.

I had been in touch with Engipreneurs and we had a meeting on Tuesday, 13th August.

Now Engipreneurs are heading to the next level (Discovery Phase) and have already begun their work for collating the data they would need for “Park: On the Go”. The team had been pursuing local authorities in Vadodara to schedule a meeting with the government officials who could lend their insights on how administration plans for Parking and Systems.

I am eager about this rendezvous and how things are turning ahead.

Revealed: Journey of Building a Team of 2 to 92 in Just About 3 Years

Do you know what’s eChai?

No? Let me tell you.

eChai is an interesting venture by Point10 that focuses on promoting entrepreneurial culture among youth. eChai is run by an awesome young entrepreneur called Jatin Chaudhari.

I was invited to talk about my experience as an entrepreneur and share my experience of building Space-O team from 2 to 92. I was to speak for about 45 minutes.

Rakesh Patel at eChai

The audience was of around 175 people interested in entrepreneurship and it was a good experience to be with other aspiring entrepreneurs such as Pallav Parikh from CityShor, TanmayVora from QAspire and Abhinav from Evomo.

It felt good to be the opening speaker. I spoke about brutal realities that every entrepreneur sees in his entrepreneurial journey. You may like to have a look at some of the pointers I covered in my speech.

People liked what I had to say. Many of them asked questions. Many of them wanted to meet me once the session was over. See the Full Coverage by Buddybits

At this point, my #1 advice to all the entrepreneurs there is: start small, focus on execution, inspect what you expect and no one can stop you from achieving what you want. Only time is between you and your goal.

All the best!
